Hormones act through specific receptors present on or in the target cells. More than 200 hormones or hormone-like substances have been discovered in the human body Most of the activities by the body are regulated by performed the hormones. Imbalance of a particular hormone may hamper majority of the body functions, since they work in cascaded manner. Hormonal imbalances occur when there is too much or too little of a hormone in the bloodstream. All most all body functions such as, metabolism and appetite heart rate sleep cycles reproductive cycles and sexual activity general growth and development mood and stress levels , body temperature, etc. are directly or indirectly regulated by hormones.
